Figuring Out Buyer Behavior: Recycled Fashion No. 2
Reporting my findings:
Reporting back on my interviews within the segment of college sorority girls I discovered further awareness on how customers decide their decisions - in regard to my business. In my second interview the college senior had an interesting point, she mentioned that girls in college place a high amount of stress on themselves regardless of the amount of stressful activity going on in their life. Therefore, girls would be intrigued by this business idea because it would grant them a fast way to get rid of their clothes that did not place added stress on their day to day lives; other than packing and shipping away their clothes, which my first interviewee noted only takes a maximum of ten minutes. All three interviewees mentioned that the digital design and marketing features of the brand that is the industry would affect whether they would use the industry as their bug fix or not. They all three also mentioned that whether or not they get all of what they deserve for their individual pieces in return would determine whether or not they would send their clothes in or not. Interviewee three, a college freshman, expressed that the financing portion of the process would need to be user friendly in order for a broader variety of customers to be obtained. Therefore, purchases through an app or website for new pieces or to create new pieces from old pieces would be a great element for this idea.
Post shipment of customers old clothes then leads to the more difficult stage of the idea, where the customer would need to decide whether they want reimbursement via online crediting, or the option to buy new pieces that other customers have created via the website or app, or lastly could choose to fully create their own pieces; this process would take friends insight according to each interviewee. My interview with the senior college student, Maya, helped me understand that choosing clothes at her age takes many steps because at that point in a woman's life they are choosing clothes they want in their closets for years and years and years. Good purchases are determined based on how much they will get used as well as how good the customer feels in the piece. Thus, the second interviewee mentioned when others tell her she looks good in her clothes or her clothes are cute she uses those pieces more. Therefore, customer customization is important so consumers can fully be happy with their decision to choose recycled fashion. The third interview also aided my understanding of bad ideas when it comes to clothes like when they are a waste of money, never get used, have bad quality or there is just nothing that satisfies their liking. These questions came to each interviewees minds when thinking about bad clothing decisions.
Drawing conclusions:
Based on my interviews I see now how to go about creating this business idea that would help a wider range of customers get involved in the process. When customers use online shopping websites they tend to struggle with answering many of the questions discussed above, therefore I would need to design my idea around these hard questions and help customers find easy solutions to their unknown problems. Alternative evaluations help entrepreneurs see a side of things that push ideas to new breaking points and stimulate mental brainstorming. Purchasing decisions are important to not oversee because ultimately a customer will not waste their time if their money will then be wasted as well. Post-purchasing evaluations aide the foundation of how a customer feels towards a business or product they are involving themselves in, therefore the evaluations are important for the beginning processes of creating business ideas.
