Idea Napkin No. 2
As a reflection on my first idea napkin for Recycled Fashion, I will reevaluate my concept...
You.
My name is Nicole Poplewko. Upon talking to a few people very close to me, I discovered one of my most talked about human capital traits is leadership. Although I have great communication and take optimal time to care for others, leadership is a quality that goes beyond just being a leader for a group. Being a leader means having the ability to gather others together and create wonderful experiences for merely the satisfaction of other people's happiness. I am a visionary, meaning I can see the future in a create way to fix problems, make things better, or create something glorious. I have experienced so much throughout my life that I believe these experiences have granted me an outlook on life that not many other people have. I aspire to create, and create, and create; create relationships, peace of mind, friendship, ideas, everything! I aspire to continue to make the world a better place through our minds and our souls being at peace with optimism and selflessness. This business allows me to grow and create something awesome for the person it is for using things that no longer have a purpose anymore. This business gives me a greater purpose.
What are you offering to customers?
Thus, they expressed that since they often have loads of clothing pieces that they do not want anymore, they wish they could easily trade them in for money. Girls expressed that they actually do already do this through their sorority pages, but more often than not it becomes a hassle and they do not get the money for clothes from the girls who claim they are going to “buy” the pieces. Also, one girl mentioned that when she lived in the dorm it was hard to fit all of her clothes in the one small closet she has. Therefore, having a way to easily trade in clothes would have been very helpful; especially because most college students at the University of Florida do not have cars in town that they can lug loads of old clothes to consignment stores.
Who are you offering it to?
Post shipment of customers old clothes then leads to the more difficult stage of the idea, where the customer would need to decide whether they want reimbursement via online crediting, or the option to buy new pieces that other customers have created via the website or app, or lastly could choose to fully create their own pieces; this process would take friends insight according to each interviewee. My interview with the senior college student, Maya, helped me understand that choosing clothes at her age takes many steps because at that point in a woman's life they are choosing clothes they want in their closets for years and years and years. Good purchases are determined based on how much they will get used as well as how good the customer feels in the piece. Thus, the second interviewee mentioned when others tell her she looks good in her clothes or her clothes are cute she uses those pieces more. Therefore, customer customization is important so consumers can fully be happy with their decision to choose recycled fashion. The third interview also aided my understanding of bad ideas when it comes to clothes like when they are a waste of money, never get used, have bad quality or there is just nothing that satisfies their liking.
Why do they care?
Based on my interviews I see now how to go about creating this business idea that would help a wider range of customers get involved in the process. When customers use online shopping websites they tend to struggle with answering many of the questions discussed above, therefore I would need to design my idea around these hard questions and help customers find easy solutions to their unknown problems. Alternative evaluations help entrepreneurs see a side of things that push ideas to new breaking points and stimulate mental brainstorming. Purchasing decisions are important to not oversee because ultimately a customer will not waste their time if their money will then be wasted as well. Post-purchasing evaluations aide the foundation of how a customer feels towards a business or product they are involving themselves in, therefore the evaluations are important for the beginning processes of creating business ideas.
What are your core competencies?
I assess myself on a much harsher scale in comparison to others, but that coincides with my perfectionists personality and wanting the best for myself and everyone around me. I would add being a leader to the list because it seems as if I express that quality greatly amongst the people I am closest with in my life. I would maybe change being strong-willed because my friends view me as having more of the ability to lighten up a room and bring energy that allows others to speak their minds instead of being held to strict moral and ethical conduct.
Let's evaluate...
I believe that these elements work together well in creating my overall business idea. Customer relations and employee relations are extremely important in creating a well organized and successful business. The target audience of my business can reach many different sectors of individuals, which helps my business thrive within its' industry.
Feedback memo
Based on the feedback I received, I understand that the plan for my business would sufficiently allow my business to grow and aide people's "bug" for unwanted clothing. I incorporated feedback by introducing the customers views and ideas based on my interviews and the customer behavior task; where we had to look into different individuals thoughts on my business idea to then make it feasible fro a variety of consumers.
Hi Nicole,
ReplyDeleteWow, I love how much detail you included in your post! It is clear that you are passionate about your business idea. As someone who is active on clothing resale sites like Poshmark, I really like your idea as well. It would be so nice to have a place to easily trade in clothes in Gainesville, since getting to the post office to ship out clothes can be such a hassle. Nice work!
