Identifying More Opportunities

Economic Opportunities...

This opportunity formed from an economic trend that is the need for customer engagement. I believe there is an opportunity for a social media platform to be built to instill all social media platforms into one for increased awareness on customer engagements. The 21^st century is at the center of social power via the internet, connecting companies to customers on issues they care about at the center of conversations. An opportunity exists to connect all the conversations into a central networking center, making it easier to connect with customers on a variety of sources. All customers and businesses may have or want this opportunity because it would ultimately benefit everyone involved in the social media craze. The opportunity would be rather difficult because gaining the rights to all platforms would be tricky due to the fact that many have different owners.

I believe there is an opportunity in the economic trend that is the continuation for a demand for sustainability. The opportunity would be in the clothing industry and would consist of a way to make quality long lasting clothing pieces – a clothing recycling industry. According to Mandy Nagel the founder of an eco friendly clothing company, “wearing sustainable clothing is one of the most positive, impactful things you can do as a conscious consumer.” Customers of a clothing recycling industry, where old clothes could get traded in for cash and used in manufacturing new clothes across many different clothing stores, everyone could be involved! This opportunity is relatively easy to exploit but would also be relatively hard to incorporate stores to use the recycled materials.

Regulatory Change Opportunities...

An opportunity exists in the regulatory change for regulating cyber security. What stemmed this opportunity is the notion of the year of the r.a.t. – Regulation, Advancement, Trust. Internet platforms should be prioritizing regulation and technology, and be the trustworthy partner consumers would like to have. Currently, various legislative bodies are looking to introduce new cyber security and privacy laws. Meanwhile, regulators are exploring ways to help their firms protect against cyber threats and maintain proper disclosure requirements should an attack occur. I believe an opportunity to protect individuals per their devices through secure browsers could aide the creation of individual secure networks. This would hold concern for crossing device information, but at the end of the day we are ultimately more secure than we were. Therefore, we should place more responsibility on business and networks for broken firewalls.  This could be hard to exploit, and the customers would generally be everyone.

There also lies an opportunity in the regulation of artificial intelligence. The opportunity for the creation of a basic universal standard moral code is possible and would be used for programmers to build from, a foundation for other codes. Specifically in autonomous vehicles, the need is much wider but this could be a start. This opportunity could benefit all of society as our nation is moving towards new technological advancements. This opportunity came from the notion that the city, state, and national authorities will explore rules to make machine learning accountable, explainable, ethical, fair, and safe. 

How I see these as opportunities...

I am sure that many people can view these economic and regulatory change trends and see an opportunity similar to those that I see. These opportunities stemmed from issues that I have noticed over time. I enjoy trend forward problem solving and thus those qualities helped me find opportunities in these places.
