My Secret Sauce

Five ways in which I think I have human capital:

1) Caring: I find myself to care more about others and how others feel before looking into how it affects me personally. I sometimes care too much about how others would feel in a given situation which allows me to see situations with a perspective where I can find a unique fix for them.

2) Optimism: I try to see the good in every situations ending, which leads me to take steps in life that are risky, and more often than not those steps lead to better endings than a safer step would have. My ability to see an optimistic outcome in risky situations also aides my problem solving abilities which are proven to be helpful for myself and others around me.

3) Problem-Solver: I strive to listen and solve problems in unique ways and I feel that sets me apart from others because I can think in a creative way that can help solve problems that were felt to have no solution.

4) Communication: Although having strong communication skills is not very unique, I find my writing style to be very unique and it expresses the way I think in an interesting way. I find it to be helpful in the way that I can talk about certain things whether that be verbally or in writing.

5) Strong-Willed: When I believe in something I stand by what I believe in and this transpires in the ways I choose my path in life. Being stubborn is not always a bad thing, it merely expresses a persons ability to know their own moral codes and ethical values - which are unique per person.

Five interviews from people who know me well expressing what they think makes me different in regard to my human capital:

1) Riley Balziachttps://soundcloud.com/nicolepoplewko/ent3003-16a-riley

Riley noted that I am a natural born leader which aides my ability to work with just about anyone. She also mentioned that she views me as being able to step up to the plate when things need to get done, which she then says that I then am able to be the best at whatever I do.

2) Sabrina Stantzykhttps://soundcloud.com/nicolepoplewko/ent3003-16a-sabrina

Sabrina mentioned how I am creative and a visionary, she related these skills to my contribution to the interior design of our home where we live as roommates. She also mentioned I am a leader and a goal getter, which go hand in hand and she thinks are wonderful qualities to have.

3) Valentina Camargohttps://soundcloud.com/nicolepoplewko/ent3003-16a-valentina

Valentina, a close friend from my home town, mentioned that I bring good energy to a room and thus pushes everyone to be their best self. She then mentions that I am motivative, which she says helps people put all of their efforts towards their endeavors.

4) Kayla Albrittonhttps://soundcloud.com/nicolepoplewko/ent3003-16a-kayla

Kayla, another roommate of mine, mentioned that I am sensitive, sweet and intuitive and that allows me to take good care of the people around me. Similarly to Sabrina, she mentioned my enthusiasm towards my goals. Lastly, she also noted how I am aware of my passions, which helps me pursue them.

5) Juliette Rebuthehttps://soundcloud.com/nicolepoplewko/ent3003-16a-juliette

Juliette says I have the ability to make others comfortable and feel as if they can tell me anything. Even if the person knew me well or not, anyone would feel as if they knew me forever.

Reflection:

It seems as if the way others see me is very similar to the way I see myself. Although I did not mention being a leader, many of my friends mentioned how they view me as a natural born leader, which I also see in myself as well. I assess myself on a much harsher scale in comparison to others, but that coincides with my perfectionists personality and wanting the best for myself and everyone around me. I would add being a leader to the list because it seems as if I express that quality greatly amongst the people I am closest with in my life. I would maybe change being strong-willed because my friends view me as having more of the ability to lighten up a room and bring energy that allows others to speak their minds instead of being held to strict moral and ethical conduct.

  1. Hey Nicole,
The qualities that you described for yourself are very good ones. Being optimistic is a very important characteristic because it allows you to look at scenarios in a positive light and make a solution clearer without the fog of negativity. Communication is also very important because nothing can be accomplished efficiently if people cannot share their ideas and feedback with one another.
